Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CustomShop.build ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the CustomShop.build website, platform, and services (collectively, the "Platform").

We are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1

Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — such as your name or display name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Profile information — details you add to your builder or artist profile, including descriptions, location, and images.
  • Content — models, items, customization options, reviews, embedded media links, messages, and attachments you submit.
  • Communications — messages you send through the Platform and any correspondence with us.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — such as pages viewed, actions taken, and interactions with the Platform.
  • Device and technical data — such as IP address, browser type, device information, and general location derived from your IP address.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. See Section 6.
2

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Operate and provide the Platform's features, including catalog listings, the configurator, orders, reviews, ownership records, and messaging.
  • Display your public profile, content, and ownership information as described in Section 4.
  • Verify Builders.
  • Communicate with you about your account, activity, and updates to the Platform.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Platform and prevent misuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
3

Legal Basis and Consent

We collect and use your personal information with your consent, which you provide by using the Platform and submitting information. In some cases we may rely on other legal grounds permitted by law, such as fulfilling a request you have made or complying with a legal requirement. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting us — though doing so may limit your ability to use certain features.

4

Publicly Visible Information

Certain information is displayed publicly as part of how the Platform works, and may be viewed by other users and visitors, including people without an account:

  • Builder profiles, Models, and Items.
  • Reviews you submit, including any embedded media.
  • Ownership information — when you are recognized as the Artist for an instrument, your ownership is displayed on the relevant Builder, Model, and Item pages.
  • Ownership history — past ownerships remain visible as part of an instrument's history, even after ownership is transferred.

Please consider this before submitting content or accepting ownership, and avoid including sensitive personal information in fields that are publicly displayed.

5

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • With other users — as described in Section 4, and as needed to facilitate messaging, orders, and ownership between users.
  • With service providers — third parties who help us operate the Platform (such as hosting and infrastructure providers), bound to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us.
  • For legal reasons — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of us, our users, or others.
  • In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
6

Cookies and Third-Party Content

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, keep you signed in, and analyze usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect functionality.

The Platform may embed content from third-party services such as YouTube and SoundCloud. These services may set their own cookies and collect information about you in accordance with their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

7

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Note that certain information — such as reviews and ownership history — may remain visible on the Platform even after you delete your account, in order to preserve the integrity of instrument records and public content. Where practical, we may disassociate such information from your identifying details.

8

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Withdraw consent to certain uses of your information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to the retention exceptions described in Section 7.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

10

International Transfers

We are based in Canada, and your information may be stored and processed in Canada or in other countries where our service providers operate. Where information is transferred outside your jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of those countries. We take steps to ensure your information remains protected in accordance with this Policy.

11

Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under the age of majority in their jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

12

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
